The Glass Torch

For Fusing, Menagerie, & Blowing!

Saturday & Sunday, February 23rd & 24th

Instruction: 10am-4pm Both Days

Fee: $325 includes all materials

"The first glass class I took was much like this one," says instructor Rose Hawley. "It was an advanced level class, called Set Your Kiln On Fire, taught by Bonnie Harder at Bullseye Glass Factory in Portland, Oregon. Bonnie met with me before class to make sure I was comfortable with the torch (I had never even seen one before). Ever since, I've been sharing Bonnie's goodness, and setting my kiln on fire!"

Students will go beyond factory parts and colors by combining and mixing Bullseye Glasses with an oxygen/propane torch. "The pallet is everything," says Rose, "and I want mine to be vast and endless! I love mixing and blowing glasses until I get just the right shade, density, and texture." Students will create glass stringers, loops, tear drops, and more, plus blow their own glass confetti and small vessels.

Previous torch or lamp experience is not required. This class is limited to three students. Our studios will open at 9am, and close at 6pm, both days. Students are encouraged to come early and stay late to become familiar with equipment, and finish projects. Lunch will be catered each day. Special needs can be met if notified in advance. We also have a refrigerator and a microwave for your favorite beverages or snacks.
